A monumental industrial landscape with a complex engineering structure, rendered in a dynamic vertical perspective in the tradition of Japanese modernism. The artist’s virtuoso handling of black and white planes emphasizes the rhythm of the massive bridge piers and the intricate graphic interlacing of the trusses. Fine textured hatching of the water in the foreground and a decorative cloudy sky balance the strict geometry of the structure.
