Description

An exclusive single collection of Buddhist art by one artist, comprising 5 original works:

Sumi-e painting “Blossoming Spring Wisteria” (1 item) — executed on a traditional thick shikishi board with a gold edge. The expressive subject is complemented by a calligraphic blessing: “Spring brings joy to every home”.

Monastic calligraphy (4 items) — executed on sheets of collectible washi paper. In the center of each work is a rare ceremonial impression of the Todai-ji monastery with the sacred solar tomoe pattern. On the left is the artist’s sweeping signature flourish (kao) and the abbot’s name seal. The texts include the famous verse on steadfastness of spirit: “The winter camellia knows no suffering when its time comes”, as well as contemplative Buddhist waka poetry.

Condition

Excellent collectible condition, a noble natural patina of time on the paper.
