15 000 – 20 000 ₽

    Dimensions

    diameter — 12 cm, height — 5.5 cm.

    Description

A collector's deep bowl of strict conical form, made at the old “Marui Seito” manufactory in the celebrated pottery centre of Shigaraki. The principal artistic merit of the bowl is its multilayered flowing glaze with a captivating concentric gradient. Smooth transitions from a bright turquoise-malachite tone at the rim to a deep cobalt ring and an azure mirror at the bottom create an expressive visual effect of “oceanic” depth. The exterior retains a noble silky sheen, while the unglazed foot shows the authentic texture of the pale, coarse-grained Shigaraki clay.

    Marks

The manufactory's original round stamp is impressed on the foot: “Marui” (丸伊).
