Description

A powerfully dynamic abstract work exploring the concept of sign systems. The artist skillfully combines a strict geometric division of the ground into color fields with a chaotic, vibrating web of dripping. Over silver-gray, deep blue and green planes are applied expressive runs and splashes of bright yellow and red-brown pigments. The work is distinguished by an expressive impasto texture.

Marks

On the reverse of the canvas is an original extended signature, date and title of the painting in Japanese and French: “Sign” / 「記号」 / Signe.
