Description

A collectible painting, the artist’s semi-abstract reinterpretation of the modernist architecture of the famous British art centre in St Ives. The composition is built on a strict balance of dark contour lines, volumes and luminous atmosphere. The silhouette of the building in the center is dramatically cut by a deep violet diagonal of shadow. The coloring combines pastel-gray, light blue and white planes with accents of emerald, ultramarine and violet.

Marks

On the front of the canvas is the artist’s monogram “AK 95”. On the reverse is an original extended inscription in ink directly on the canvas; a paper exhibition label with the artist’s personal seal (member of the Nika-kai) has been preserved.
